About Margaret Otash
Margaret Otash is a Senior Tax Manager at the Bass Tax Group (formerly SmarTax), where she provides comprehensive tax compliance and consulting services to large multinational clients. As a staffing practice leader, Margaret oversees the supervision and training of new hires, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet client needs.

With over 30 years of experience in both public and private accounting, Margaret brings extensive expertise to the firm. Her areas of specialization include:

• ASC 740 (FAS 109): Accounting for income taxes
• FIN 48: Uncertain tax positions
• Federal and Multistate Tax Compliance
• Tax Research and Planning
• Audit Defense

Before joining the Bass Tax Group, Margaret served as a Tax Manager at KPMG in the Greater New York area. Earlier in her career, she was an internal auditor for a Fortune 500 insurance company.

Margaret earned both her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and her Master’s in Taxation from Seton Hall University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
